Our Latest Batch of Care Packages

Two weeks ago, I had the honor of preparing a new set of care packages for The Retreat in East Hampton. This organization is dedicated to supporting women and children affected by domestic violence. It’s a mission means a lot to me, and I’m excited to share my experience with you.
The care packages we put together were filled with essential hygiene products, such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, and deodorant, aimed at making daily life a little easier for the women. For the children, we included stuffed animals and bubble wands to help bring moments of fun and reduce stress during difficult times.
I couldn’t have accomplished this without my mom and grandma, who joined me in our living room to assemble the packages. It was not only productive but also a heartwarming bonding experience. Of course, this project was entirely made possible thanks to the incredible generosity of our community. Last Tuesday, we proudly delivered these care packages for eight women and ten children currently residing at The Retreat. It meant a lot to work with this shelter, as The Retreat offers many essential services, including safety, legal counseling, and job assistance, allowing survivors to rebuild their lives. This experience reminded me that we all have the power to make a difference in our communities. Every act of kindness counts, whether it's donating items, volunteering time, or simply spreading awareness about pressing issues.
My hope is that the women and children receiving these packages experience a sense of connection, and that our small act of kindness helps them realize they are not alone on their path toward healing.
